Description
Designed by Indigenous artist Sherren Gross in collaboration with Artisans Effort, a Fair Trade producer in Kolkata, India, the embroidered emblems on the textile padded message/talking stick represent important aspects of Sherren’s Tribal family from North Stradbroke Island.
Just as the message stick played an important role in communication and protection between Aboriginal groups, in today’s classroom it can be used to foster respect in the yarning circle; the person holding the stick has the right to speak and not be interrupted.
A full explanation, written by Sherren, accompanies this item. The Message Stick is 29 cm long and 9 cm in circumference.
